The Gold Coast is a Major Student City of Australia with the Highest proportion of students of any City in Queensland. An American equivalent would be Boston and in the United Kingdom, Manchester.

The Gold Coast is Australia's sixth largest city, located on the east coast of southern Queensland, and only an hours drive from the Capital, Brisbane. It has a subtropical climate with 300 days of sunshine each year. The Gold Coast is renowned as Australia's premier holiday destination, and the casual resort atmosphere makes it appealing to visitors of all ages and interests. Consequently, the Gold Coast offers students more than a place to study; it is such a diverse and exciting place to live.


Australia's Gold Coast region offers 70 kilometres of uninterrupted coastline of beautiful golden beaches, with lush subtropical rainforests only a 30 minute drive away. The Gold Coast is famous for its stunning surf beaches, appealing to body surfers, surfboard and sailboard riders as well as offering calmer waters suitable for families with young children. At least 35 of these beaches are patrolled year-round by professional lifeguards to create a safe swimming environment for swimmers of all levels.


Recognised as the theme park capital of Australia, Dreamworld, Movieworld, Seaworld and Wet 'n' Wild offer fun filled experiences for all ages. Wonderful al fresco restaurants, cafes and coffee shops are plentiful, with fresh seafood a specialty. International cuisine is available including Chinese, Japanese, French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Indian, Mexican, Indonesia, Thai and more. Entertainment is offered at a wide range of venues, whether it be a stage show, canal cruise, live music at a night club or the 24 hour Casino.


The hinterland offers many contrasting activities from bush walking, horse riding and hot air ballooning to visiting Art Galleries and Museums as well as great restaurants and craft shops.


The Gold Coast hosts many world class festivals and sporting events. Surfing, surf life saving, triathlon, motor sports, horse racing, tennis and sailing regattas take place against a spectacular backdrop of sandy beaches, sparkling blue ocean and green mountains.
